You want me to be scared
Chemical weapons may shoot our way
But I’m already a victim
Social scents my health betray.
It’s been going on for years now
More and more of us fall prey
To society’s acceptance
Of ‘new and better’ every day.
There’s chemicals in the carpet
There’s chemicals in the air
We all wear, whatever we use
Long past the applications affair.
There’s chemicals coming from cars
Not JUST factories and landfill sites
There’s chemicals coming from lawns
from our homes for ants, fleas and mites
To kill plants thought unsightly
And bugs thought unclean
To kill mold and fungus
And feed that lawn's deep green.
It’s affecting reproduction
It’s killing old and maiming young
It’s wrecking our DNA
So much of life becomes undone.
We’ve people dying of cancer,
People dying for lack of air
People suffering in silence
Money and Greed hiding their despair.
Hello! I’m sickened by most contact
with society’s daily wares
There’s no retreat to safety
With us all sharing the same air.
They’re paving the streets
poisoning my air…
Not only junk mail, but bills that smell
It’s all saying “We don’t care”
We research education’s disparity
Ignore cosmetics that leaden girl’s brains
Painting nails may bring uncertainty
While sprays and Lipstick make some insane
Ads touting clean homes
for their product will kill with no fuss
all germs... all living organisms,
Excuse me…Isn’t that us?
And you want to scare me into submission
To allow Homeland to rule my life
You’ll have to forgive my scoffing
As I see you use this to steal my rights.
So, don’t threaten the ill with illness
For small pox, there’s a vaccine
Don’t ask me to believe for one moment
You care about me, or anything green
Not a bit, not one little wit
or you’d quit toxin me now
Not threaten of more
from some other source
